168 North Clinton
Thrush & Company Located near Chicago's Loop, the rehabilitation of this six story 1890's warehouse building for office use included new elevators, stairs, common area facilities, mechanical & electrical systems, windows, façade restoration and entrance lobby. Existing cast iron columns of the first floor façade were relocated for visual continuity with the masonry work above. Behind these columns full height glass is inserted providing openness for the spaces beyond. On either side, symmetrical and identical entries identify building lobby and tenant entry. The lobby design is intended to communicate the concept of old versus new by the insertion of polished surfaces within the context of wood and brick construction. |
