Complete renovation of this heavy timber, cast iron, and masonry loft building facilitates the new Schwinn Bicycle headquarters. To Maximize flexibility in the 60’ x 150’ six story structure which includes offices and research areas, the elevator and stairwell core have been relocated in a new free-standing circulation tower on the building’s north side. The 100-foot high tower, sheeting in load-bearing black glazed block, will signify the building’s main entrance. The lobby is composed of black glazed block, black and gray granite, and stainless steel, accented with a combination of recessed and cove lighting. The vacant corner lot to the north is surrounded with trees enclosing a parking area with direct access to the landscaped entrance promenade.
