Museum Park Place Tower i
The Enterprise Companies /
Central Station Development 194 Units, 23 Stories 1841 S. Calumet Ave. Chicago, Illinois
The building is the first of a pair of sister towers that will anchor the southern leg of the Museum Park / Central Station Development. At street-level, the base incorporates seven, two-story townhomes clad in aluminum metal panels, that serve to both activate the streetscape and to screen the 264 car garage. Above this base, the structure is composed of two volumetric masses; the larger of which is clad almost entirely of glass windows overlaid with a bold red grid framework to accent and reinforce the ordered façade. In contrast to this glass curtainwall, stands a taller, tower-like volume with large rectangular punched openings, providing a firm anchor for the composition. The gently sloped top edge of these two volumes completes the building’s striking silhouette along Chicago’s lakefront.
