Ronal McDonald House
Ronal McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana The Ronald McDonald House was designed to provide a temporary “home away from home” for the families of children battling illness in area hospitals. In addition to providing a place to eat and sleep, the home enables families to join together to share their hopes and fears, and to learn to better cope with their respective situations. The Ronald McDonald House was designed to provide a temporary “home away from home” for the families of children battling illness in area hospitals. In addition to providing a place to eat and sleep, the home enables families to join together to share their hopes and fears, and to learn to better cope with their respective situations. On the exterior, the project design draws inspiration from its surroundings, emulating an historic Hyde Park residence that has been transformed into a warm and inviting home. By careful massing, traditional use of brick and limestone details, and a large wrap-around wood-detailed porch, the house blends seamlessly into the neighborhood. On the interior, the house contains 22 guest rooms, 2 manager's apartments, offices and other amenities to make it an appealing place to stay for each of its guests. |
