David A. Haymes received a Bachelor of architecture as a James Scholar from University of Illinois at Chicago in 1978. Prior to graduating, he and George Pappageorge worked together on Mr. Pappageorge’s senior thesis project, the rehab of a single-family residence in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood. A year later they resumed their working relationship together at Kenneth Schroeder & Associates where they remained until leaving to open their own firm in 1981.

Co-founder and principal of Pappageorge/Haymes Ltd., Mr. Haymes has played a significant role in the firm’s expansion by contributing both design expertise and unique business acumen. As Chief Operations Officer, he oversees all major administrative activities including asset management, contractual negotiations, and staff development, while being responsible for the coordination and design of some of the firm’s most ambitious architectural projects.

He is the principal in charge of Museum Park, the complex, multi-phased development that covers the gamut of housing types. His team’s response to the project’s unique engineering challenges, such as the interweaving of contrasting construction methodology, has earned industry recognition. Other leadership assignments include University Commons, 310 S. Michigan Avenue, and the $165 million SouthShore development in Newport, Kentucky.

His professional activities include membership in the American Institute of Architects and appearances as guest lecturer and panelist at conferences and symposia.

He is a registered architect in Illinois.
