george pappageorge For more than 25 years George Pappageorge has been the guiding spirit behind a divergent body of work that has fostered public awareness and appreciation of architecture while enhancing our nation’s cities. His achievements have been published internationally and have been featured in numerous exhibitions. Under his leadership Pappageorge/Haymes Ltd. has received an abundance of 50 awards for design excellence. Early in his career, he worked in Chicago as a designer and urban planner while learning the rigor of residential development through several small projects with David Haymes. By 1981, when both were in their late 20’s, he and Haymes decided to start their own firm. The firm’s innovative work on such projects as City Commons, Embassy Club and Willow Court inspired a new architectural language, expanding the growth of a new urbanism in neighborhoods both at home and in cities outside the Chicago area. At the age of 39, Pappageorge earned the distinction of being one of the youngest members to be elevated to the prestigious American Institute of Architects College of Fellows. Throughout his career he has lectured at numerous institutions and societies and has served on many design juries. Recently he has played a central role in the design of a number of the city’s most visible residential projects, including Museum Park Towers 1, 2, 3, 4, One Museum Park East/West, each part of the new Museum Campus community, and 600 N. Lake Shore Drive, a one million square foot condominium complex. Additionally, Pappageorge has been involved in large scale planning and significant residential projects in Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin, California, Utah, Texas, Texas, Washington, Missouri, Virginia, Georgia, Nebraska, and Florida. He is a licensed architect in Illinois, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and Wisconsin. |
