Within a sandblasted concrete envelope, simple geometry and basic materials combine to create a visually lively and theatrical environment in this elegant Chicago bistro. The bar area, divided from the entrance and take-out areas by an imposing blue cylinder, is a cool gloss black square. Orange columns on the back bar, and a triangular suspended soffit define the space with constructivist over tones.
