Iowa River Landing is a new residential, retail and entertainment district envisioned along the busy I-80 corridor in Coralville, Iowa. Overlooking the Iowa River on land formerly used for light industry, the development features a large department store, movie theater and pedestrian-friendly streets lined with shops. Designed to blend seamlessly with an in-place hotel and convention center, emphasis is placed on the creation of a vibrant mixed-use environment with a strong identity and memorable sense of place. The riverfront is conceived as an active public space that will include boating access and a 5,000 seat sporting and entertainment venue, as well as dining options and residential townhouses. Residents and visitors alike will enjoy a riverwalk that connects to a planned museum at the site’s northeast corner. Along 1st Avenue, medical offices and hotels will be closely tied to a planned transit center and a proposed light rail line will provide an important link to adjacent Iowa City and the nearby campus of the University of Iowa.
