A 19-story residential apartment tower is planned on a vacant lot in between two existing 3 and 4-story buildings in Chicago’s popular West Loop neighborhood. The building will consist of 287 residential units with 20% designated as affordable on-site housing. The new mixed-use development is intended to work in connection with the neighboring office buildings.
The tower's design features a 5-story masonry base that fills the vacant lot, with a middle section tower set back from the base. The top floors will be further set back, creating an active rooftop area and outdoor decks for resident use. The building podium has been designed to respect the neighborhood character, incorporating a contemporary expression that also blends traditional materials such as brick and metal. The glassy tower above is distinguished by a metal frame grid pattern that creates a striking and dynamic aesthetic. The use of different shades create a sense of depth and texture on the building’s exterior, proving visual interest and complexity.
