A 19-story residential apartment tower is planned on a vacant lot between two existing 3- and 4-story buildings in Chicago’s popular West Loop neighborhood. The building will consist of 287 residential units, with 20% designated as affordable on-site housing. The new mixed-use development is intended to complement the surrounding office buildings.
The tower's design features a 5-story masonry podium that fills the vacant lot, with the tower portion set back above. The top two floors include enhanced amenity spaces for residents, with portions carved away to create two separate active outdoor decks. The building podium is designed to respect the character of the neighborhood, incorporating a contemporary expression while blending traditional materials such as brick and metal. The glassy tower above is distinguished by a metal frame grid pattern that creates a striking and dynamic aesthetic. The use of varied shades adds depth and texture to the building’s exterior, providing visual interest and complexity.
