CONSTRUCTION BEGINS FOR 111 W. ILLINOIS
The transformation of floors 5 through 10 of this office building in Chicago’s River North neighborhood into 153 modern residential units is being designed by PH. Originally designed by SCB and completed in 2008, the building was once home to offices for Salesforce and WeWork. These upper floors are being reimagined into studio, one-bedroom, one-bedroom + den, and two-bedroom apartments with larger-than-average layouts and high-end finishes, while floors 2 through 4 will remain office space.
Located between N. Clark St and N. LaSalle Dr, this project is one of Chicago’s first office-to-residential conversions since 2023 to move forward without public subsidy.
111 W. Illinois is also the first project to submit to and receive approval from Chicago’s mechanical ventilation pilot program, maintaining the continuous oversized windows and setting a precedent for future adaptive reuse developments across the city.
Residents will enjoy thoughtfully designed rooftop indoor and outdoor amenity spaces, offering expansive views and year-round comfort.
